Breaking Shells
Breaking Shells follows two men with developmental disabilities, Art and Steve, as they go on a road trip, making presentations across South Dakota. They want people who receive supports from Community Support Providers to know that they have the right to make the decisions that impact their lives. They offer a message of hope and empowerment, and they send a very clear message to the staff who work for them as well.
DVD includes Breaking Shells documentary plus bonus features: -Introduction to The Messengers Project -Planning for Your Life Training Video.
Breaking Shells has been named winner of the 2010 TASH Images In Media Award. Images In Media Awards are given each year to media outlets, writer/reporters, or film-makers who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to promoting justice for people with disabilities.
